Lookin’ for Love…Gifts in Nature

Vine_Center_Gold

So I have this little rock that sits on my windowsill above my kitchen sink.  It’s been sitting there for a couple of years now.  It isn’t anything fancy.  It’s rough and it’s rugged!  But it’s special!

It’s special because my girls gave it to me.  They found this little treasure-of-a-rock while playing in the back yard and they couldn’t wait to show it to me. This is no ordinary rock…can you see it? Do you see its shape?  The girls and I see it every time we look at it!  A heart!

Gifts in nature. RYGblog.comI keep it in my windowsill above my sink because it’s a sweet reminder of my girls and how much love and enthusiasm they bring into our family.  It reminds me that little things shouldn’t be overlooked as they can have great impact!  It reminds me of what treasures are to be found in Creation and how our hearts can be filled by the beauty and awe of it!   It reminds me of how important unstructured play and exploration is and I’m so thankful our girls embrace that!  This little rock is a reminder to me that if I slow down enough I won’t miss the special surprises, the little love notes, made for me to enjoy in Creation.

This month of February, I encourage you to pause and breathe and look for these little love notes…these simple gifts in nature are there just for you to enjoy – gifts that will fill your heart with joy…a blooming flower, a beautiful sunrise, unique cloud formations, a sweet chirp of a bird, the warmth of a sunbeam, and so on.  And if you happen to find a heart-shaped blessing in nature…please snap a photo of it and share it with us!  I’d just love to share a collection of those photos…I’m all about sharing the love this Valentine’s season!

Hope you have a nice weekend!
