Fall Shrub Care: Food | Water | Shelter (a la Monrovia)

 

It’s finally feeling more like fall here in Atlanta…after a loooong, hot summer!

As with any change of season, some folks are left wondering what they should be doing outside with their plants.  For me, yard work in the fall has a calmer cadence than it does in the other seasons. It’s more about tidying things up and possibly doing a few things now so that my plants will be healthier and look better in the spring. (Which will actually make yard work easier next year…which I’m all for!)

 

 

The RYG & Monrovia Video

Things got cooler around casa de Scott this fall even before the temps did. I’ll give you more goodie on that in a post I’ll do later this week…but in a nutshell, I was asked to be part of a video produced for Monrovia.  That’s right, the Big Dog plant, tree, shrub, flower, and perennial company. You might recognize their pots.

 

How cool is that?!?

So with the significant help of my buddy, Joe Braun of Best30Seconds, I found myself in my back yard…awkwardly in front of his camera…sharing about what I do for my shrubs in the fall.

 

The primary message I wanted to get across was that it’s not complicated…at least it doesn’t have to be. All you really need to think about is 3 things: food, water, & shelter.

But If You Want to Do More for Your Shrubs…

Now, to not completely discredit myself with my fellow plant-loving friends out there, I know that depending on where you live and the types of plants you have, there are certainly other things you could do for your plants this fall.

But for some folks, digging too much deeper (pun intended) can get overwhelming really fast. So just thinking about food, water, & shelter could be helpful…and could also make their time outside more enjoyable. And clearly, I’m all for that too!

So keep it simple. Get outside. Do a few things. Learn a few things. And enjoy!
