Fabulous Friday Find … “Kitchen Garden Cookbook – Celebrating the Homegrown and Homemade”
I’ve got a Fun Friday Find for you this week…no make that a Fabulous Friday Find! Kitchen Garden Cookbook – Celebrating the Homegrown and Handmade by Jeanne Kelley.
I am in love with this new gardening book / cookbook. I just can’t get enough of it! I have thoroughly enjoyed paging through all the beautiful and creative photography, salivating over the delicious recipes…trying to decide which ones I want to try first. And what makes this cookbook so special to me are the simple gardening tips that are presented in such a way that they don’t overwhelm me…but rather, motivate me to be more engaged in the planting process with My Resident Gardener.
As it states just inside the front cover, “this book is the go-to guide for anyone looking to connect the virtues of the homegrown and homemade to your everyday table.” Jeanne Kelley highlights the most classic selection of herbs, fruits and vegetables found in home gardens and lays them out season-by-season…showing you how to plan for and plant your garden in a way that they will thrive. Then she shares unique, yet doable, recipes of how to prepare your harvest.
Her amazing photos are what first engaged me, then her recipes enticed me further…but as I’ve spent more time with this book, I’ve found that I really love Kelley’s conversational way of sharing information…in a very simple and straight-forward, yet personal way. It really is a great find and I just couldn’t wait to share it with you. This is one book you will want to Pin or put on your “Wish List”!
The more I pour over this book the more inspired I am to grow and harvest food for our kitchen table! I’ve already tried one recipe…the Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad with Feta & Mint…which I made first because we had three of its ingredients ready to harvest. It was really DELICIOUS! Such a light and fresh summer salad! So I just had to share it with you…
And now I just have to decide which recipe I am going to try next…maybe the Pasta with Basil & Mint Pesto or the Shaved Zucchini Salad with Almonds & Asiago or the Tomato Gazpacho with Roasted Pepper, Cucumber & Avocado. I just can’t decide! What’s your vote?
Happy weekend friends!

Well, shoot. That’s exactly the kind of book I wanted to write some day. Jeanne Kelley beat me to it. : ) Thanks for the recommendation. I will put it on my wish list.
Yea Deb…it’s a great concept for a gardening/cookbook. When you get it, let me know what you think. And by the way, I think there’s still room for a similar cookbook with your personal twist on it! Take care, D.
