Vine_Center_Gold

Redeem Your Ground! That’s right…we won Best New Garden Blog at the 2015 Garden Bloggers Conference last week…whoop, whoop!Garden Bloggers Conference...Hall of Fame Award Winners - Redeem Your Ground | RYGblog.com

Unfortunately we weren’t able to be there to receive the award in person…but I asked fellow chicken-lover and blogger friend Deb Neyens (Counting My Chickens) to let me know once it was announced. And she did…within seconds…thanks Deb!

Thanks to you too…for voting and for being on this RYG journey with us this past year. It’s been a wild ride…but one we’re so glad to be on. And we’re really looking forward to seeing where 2015 takes us!

sidebar-vineI’d also like to take this opportunity to share with you who won the other Hall of Fame Award categories.

Best Overall Garden Blog … Red Dirt Ramblings®

Garden Bloggers Conference...Hall of Fame Award Winners - Redeem Your Ground | RYGblog.com & RedDirtRamblings.comI mentioned Red Dirt Ramblings® (RDR) on a post I did in January. RDR is an outstanding gardening blog and is written by gardener-writer-speaker-blogger extraordinaire Dee Nash…and she has won a ton of blog and writing awards to prove it. Check it out. And if you do…I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ll be inspired by Dee’s beautiful photos and informative posts to get outside very soon to get your hands a little dirty!

Best Writing in a Garden Blog … Mother of a Hubbard

Garden Bloggers Conference...Hall of Fame Award Winners - Redeem Your Ground | RYGblog.com & MotherofaHubbard.comMother of a Hubbard is written by Cathy Rehmeyer…mother of 2 young girls and medical school professor…yea, she’s just a tad bit smart. Besides providing a wealth of great gardening information and inspiration, Cathy masterfully communicates how what you put into your body affects your body. In particular, given her family’s gluten intolerance, Cathy shares some very tasty gluten-free recipes. So if that’s something your family also has to deal with, you really should check out Mother of a Hubbard.

Best Garden Blog Graphics, Photography, and Presentation … Green Thumb White Apron

Garden Bloggers Conference...Hall of Fame Award Winners - Redeem Your Ground | RYGblog.com & GreenThumbWhiteApron.comGreen Thumb White Apron (GTWA) is written by Brett Youmans. Fortunately for us, Brett goes to great lengths to share his love for gardening, cooking, crafting, renovating, and traveling on GTWA. And make no mistake, Brett’s no newbie at any of this – he’s been featured in Better Homes and Gardens and This Old House…and has won cooking contests from literally around the world. As his Hall of Fame Award suggests, GTWA is beautifully branded and features gorgeous pictures…presented in a very crisp and tasteful way. And not only that, he writes in a very conversational manner…while providing incredibly helpful information. Please check out what Brett’s doing on Green Thumb White Apron…you’ll be glad you did.

Thank you so much for your kind words Doug. It’s thrilling to win something isn’t it? I’m so happy for you. Your blog is grand. Keep on writing. I look back on the last seven years and wonder where the time has gone. Thank you for including me in your winner roundup. Congratulations to everyone who won in their category. I didn’t realize Cathy was gluten free. I am too since 2007. Thanks!~~Dee

Thanks Dee! Appreciate your chiming in and your oh-so-kind words! Frankly, being the new kid on the blog…I’m a bit humbled to be in the company of the rest of y’all…and I’d be lying if I didn’t say a tad bit intimidated. Thanks to you and all the others for the time and care you take in putting out such great work. Take care, D.

Thanks for the shout out, Doug! As I said, I was happy to be the bearer of good news. And it may not have been within seconds, but I did make sure to send off the note before I went to lunch. : )

Thank you so much for your kind words Doug! {I’m blushing here a bit. Seriously!} GTWA is coming up on its one year anniversary and is still a work in progress so it’s humbling to be included among such amazing sites and the incredibility talented people behind them. Your beautiful blog makes me happy and I want to move into that gorgeous chicken coop of yours. Congratulations to you and the other deserving nominees and winners — hopefully we can all meet up at next year’s conference! 🙂

Thanks Brett. Yea…my feathered ladies are pretty lucky…but when I designed their coop and space around it I wanted to make sure my family, friends, and I would enjoy being near them as much as possible. Still layering on some things in and around the coop, but we’re very pleased with how it’s turned out. But thanks for your kind words about it and our site. Being a blogging newbie like me, you know that it takes a lot of love and passion to keep it going. It’s a ton of work, but we love it. Thanks again Brett…and take care, D.

Thanks Kelly! And thanks too for being a part of our RYG journey…for both allowing me to re-post some of your awesome, challenging, and life-giving posts from UnTangled (http://drkellyflanagan.com/)…AND our offline conversations about being dads & husbands, pursuing our passions, and the ups/downs of blogging. I can’t thank you enough my friend! Take care, D.

Thanks Shannon…for your oh-so-kind words…and your support. It has been a ton of work…more than we knew it would, but since it’s all about what we love doing and how we want to live our lives…AND not to mention, fueled by our passions and a sense of calling, it’s been well worth it! Thanks again my friend, D.
