Topping off the Perfect Easter Basket with “Let’s Hatch Chicks!” by Lisa Steele
If you’ve read any of my chicken-related posts, odds are you’ve gotten to know fellow blogger Lisa Steele … of Fresh-Eggs-Daily fame. She is the expert when it comes to all-things-chicken. Besides being a 5th generation chicken keeper, she’s also an author, Master Gardener, an aspiring herbalist, sought-after content contributor, TV personality…I could go on and on.
I’m also happy to say that not only has she become my personal go-to-chicken-whisperer when I have questions about my flock, but a long-distance friend as well. Which is why it’s with great confidence and pride that I can recommend one of her latest books – Let’s Hatch Chicks!: Explore the Wonderful World of Chickens and Eggs.
It really is the perfect addition to your kid’s Easter Basket. Perfect timing, right?!? Whether you’re raising chickens or not I think you’ll find that you and your children will love turning the beautifully illustrated pages (by Perry Taylor), learning something new with every flip.
You’ll follow the story of one of Lisa’s very own chickens, Violet, as she prepares to become a mommy…all the way until her baby chicks hatch and are full grown. And on the pages in between you and your child will learn so much about what goes on inside of Violet’s eggs, what Violet does to care for her chicks, and what you can do to help her along the way.
And beyond just being a great children’s storybook, Let’s Hatch Chicks! is so chock-full-of fun facts and helpful how-to’s that I’d recommend it to anyone who is just starting to think about raising chickens or has been raising chickens for years. We’ve had our flock of feathered friends for over 5 years and I learned a ton.
So, with all that said, go get yourself a copy. I highly recommend it – for that special child in your life…or for yourself. I’m confident you’ll be glad you did. And if you get a move on, there’s still time to buy one to finish off your Easter Basket with style!
Take care all,
